Tomorrow the opening of the third edition of Milano Arch Week, a week of events devoted to architecture and itineraries on the challenges of contemporary and future urban transformations, promoted by Triennale Milano, together with Politecnico di Milano and the Municipality of Milan, in collaboration with Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation and with the artistic direction of Stefano Boeri.
From 21st to 26th May, Milano Arch Week will explore the relationship between Anthropocene and Architecture within and across the urban contexts worldwide, the future of architecture and cities through a polyphony of voices: architects, urban planners, landscape designers, scientists, philosophers, artists, and curators from all over the world.
Here the issues of environmental sustainability, technological development, migration flows, and social transformations at the heart of Broken Nature will be related to urban spaces and examined from an urban and architectural perspective. The event will examine how best to restore our broken relationship with Nature, in the sense of a complex interweaving of environmental, social, cultural, and economic issues in today’s situation of planet-wide urbanization. Milano Arch Week will investigate cities as systems of flows and networks, artifice and nature, as places continually shaped by a “contemporary plurality of subjects, individuals, and trajectories”, and as centers of material and immaterial production. Cities are places where the human species can repair its broken relationship with Nature and reverse the disastrous effects of climate change.
The Consortium of Botticino Classico Marble Producers, together with the Municipality of Botticino, this year will take part in the Festival with Archiscoot # 1 Marmi Milanesi, the urban itinerary of Milano Arch Week riding a scooter, a tour guided by Maria Vittoria Capitanucci, critic and historian of contemporary architecture and professor at AUIC School – Milan Polytechnic, discovering the use of marble in Milanese architecture and in particular the use of our Botticino Classico marble in several important buildings, such as the renovation of the Teatro alla Scala, the Four Season Hotel and the headquarters of Gallerie d’Italia, which will host the event.
Departure on Saturday 25th at 09.30 am from the entrance of La Triennale, the main stage of the tour will take place in Gallerie d’Italia (Piazza della Scala 6) with a conversation between Stefano Boeri and Vincenzo Latina entitled “Milanese Marbles” and with a subsequent visit guided tour of Gallerie d’Italia, a masterpiece in Botticino Classico marble.
Participation in this important event is part of the several initiatives promoted by the Consortium of Botticino Classico Marble Producers, aimed at promoting and spreading the culture and quality of Botticino Classico Marble in the world.
Milano Arch Week, as the first participation in the exhibition “Reconstructions”, with “ArchiBottius” installation designed by Vincenzo Latina, as well as the recent training conference “Reconstructions”, represent important opportunities to spread the knowledge of our marble, its extraordinary modernity and versatility of use in contemporary architectural projects and to encourage its use by international architects and designers.
