Ex casa del Fascio a Como
Former Casa del Fascio in Como
        ARCHITECTURAL MASTERPIECES
        IN BOTTICINO CLASSICO MARBLE

During the fascist period, a vision of a modern approach,
as well as the clear intent of extolling the regime and its
icons, led to the demolition of the original old town center
and the creation of Piazza Vittoria in Brescia, to this day
one of the leading examples of 20th-century architecture
and urban planning and, along with the creation of the
square, a more “rational” layout of the city’s streets.

The former Casa del Fascio in Como is unquestionably the
most famous and important example of Italian Rationalist
architecture. The building, faced in Botticino, is a large
parallelepiped equal to half of a cube.
Its façade is a geometric checkerboard with some spaces
filled in and some empty, creating a rational and effective
        play of chiaroscuro and transparency.

Inaugurated in 1910 by its founder, Prince Albert I, the
Oceanographic Museum of Monaco was conceived from its
very inception to be dedicated entirely to oceanography in
        all its aspects.
The monumental nature of the building can be seen above
all in its façade on a cliff with a sheer drop to the sea, with
        a height of 85 meters.
